Open Up was established when members of our original community within the sister organizations of Providence Bible Church, a non-denominational church in Northeast Denver, and CrossPurpose, a career and community development organization also in Northeast Denver, sought a response to the affordable housing crisis our low-income neighbors were facing and wanted to create resourceful solutions from spaces that already existed in our homes.
Members of the church and program participants in the career development program formed our initial Advisory Team and came together through Open Up to comprise our first three matches in December 2017. Since then we have deepened our support for each match and its unique needs, developed program partnerships to provide more opportunities, diversified recruitment pipelines, and collected information on resources to better equip our residents to move on from our transitional housing placements to more permanent housing opportunities.
